old fashioned shoe shine

I recently had an old fashioned shoe shine in the Philadelphia airport! I actually had some time to kill and really needed to shine up my boots. I wish I had taken a before picture because it was well worth the $10 fee plus tip!

Look who made Angel status!

Image
I still remember our last Christmas together. It was quiet and humble, just the two of us cuddling after dinner with friends and the fresh fallen snow made it extra special. Now she's an angel on top of the tree: a reminder to cherish each moment, even the little things. Merry Christmas to You! Uncomplicating Christmas

Pinterest helped me get dressed...AGAIN!

Image
one shoulder dress on left: from Ross $22 slouchy grey cowl neck sweater on left: from Marshall's $19? opaque black hose: idk I needed a quick outfit for a party and I found some ideas on Pinterest. The photo on the left is what I put together using a one shoulder dress that I had worn to another party and I wanted to wear it again but mix it up and make it more casual. I saw the picture on the right, re-pinned it and went shopping in my closet for a sweater that I could wear that would cover the top of the dress while leaving the sequin skirt exposed. Except for the fact that my middle section looks large and undefined, it was comfy and worked out great. I think beaded skirts, dresses and blouses must be "in" this holiday season. Starting a New Chapter

Image
Starting a new chapter in my life,  and for my own sanity, I'm leaving some baggage behind! In that baggage is years of experiences, expectations and aspirations.  As I wipe the slate clean and start all over again, I realize that there are a lot of people who are in similar situations or worse because of the economy.  For this I am grateful for every opportunity and adventure, taking it one step at a time. vintage luggage not for sale ;-)

Motivation

Image
I need some,  to get this last little bit of weight, muffin top, tummy and thigh bulge off even in the midst of the holidays! pinterest Last week the guy who runs my local gym was walking around with mini candy canes, offering them to patrons as they worked out. Two girls who were working with a trainer for the first time gladly obliged as their trainer looked on with disapproval. "It's a trap", I said and continued my run.  The next night he offered cookies, and the night after that, pizza!  "You're not giving in to any of this temptation? It's the Christmas season and there will be lots of this kind of celebrating going on!", He said.  "NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS BEING STRONGER FEELS",  and I continued on the elliptical…  I know these sound like cliches but I have to believe that there is a reason for this season in my life. So I keep these things in mind because it's t

Favorite Saturday Outfit

Image
When my nephew was just a little tike his mommy dressed him in a sharp chambray shirt, cuffed jeans (big enough to fit over the diaper bulge) and a fleece vest. My little sweetie pie wore that most Saturdays as he scooted about the house or out on the town (sometimes with his miniature hiking boots on). Who could blame him? Everybody has a favorite Saturday outfit: something comfy cozy, yet stylish and casual! Well for me it's this!  I shot this picture as I was trying on the grey sweater at my favorite boutique, Le Mar Shalls, because the mirror is so much bigger than mine at home. down vest: a gift from my nephews' mommy, Lands End  5 y.o. cashmere hoodie: TJMaxx belt: Walmart ;-) jeans: skinny from H&M shoes and watch: Targee' Okay, although they're very comfortable, the jeans look a little tight but in my defense, I am still working on reducing my weight, (47 so far, 13 more to go!  can't do enough squats, lunges and leg presses
