I like old stuff

Image
If you hadn't already guessed, I like old vintage things! Anything with a history and I'm automatically intrigued!  I'm sure there will be more posts similar to this, but since I am really crammed with work today I thought I'd just post these pictures that were taken last week at a freedom festival at my church. They had a display of classic cars and these really caught my eye because, well, I like old stuff! a Ford Model T a 1950's Studebaker 1930's Buick Roadmaster Phaeton photo from: this old car and truck dot com {click here for more oldies but goodies} hey, that looks like my house! (mine was built in this same time period.)

Too Hot For Words...

But I've got plenty to say, as always. With the weather in the high 90's, I've got sweet iced tea and porches on the brain... mostly because I need something to go with this yummy creation, which I call  "The BEST" (Turkey Bacon, Basil, Egg, Spinach, and Tomato) But because I'm incredibly busy this summer, I don't have time to fix up my screened-in side porch.  So I've been imagining myself basking in dappled sunlight and a cool breeze with my sweet Iced Tea and sandwich... Let me pour you some tea while we refresh ourselves on nice porches like these: click on the photos to make them larger my friends porch includes an incredible view of the savannah river Wrap around porches in Savannah I love this cottage in Palmetto Bluff, SC A dining porch? Looks so glamorous! A porch with a view! I can see how families would want to spend lots of time on the porch um, can you say 'dreamy'? I think I might need to move here Shabby...

Busy weekend ahead...enjoy!

I wish hydrangeas had a pleasant scent; like a cross-between jasmine, honey-suckle and baby powder.

Morning Reflection

Image
**seems un-related but this morning these dishes, the colors and the sunlight made me smile** "my peace I give you" John 14:27 In yesterdays' Streams in the Desert , it talked about the life of Christ, 'which was one of the most troubled lives ever lived. Storms and turmoil, turmoil and storms -- wave after wave broke over Him until His worn body was laid in the tomb. Yet His inner life was a smooth as a sea of glass, and a great calm was always there.' This past week, I visited a friend who is recovering from a double mastectomy (she's in her 30's and just found true love). Her attitude was much like Christ, inner life is as smooth as a sea of glass, though she is experiencing a worn body, turmoil and storms. She even went to church on Sunday. The night before her surgery, I asked how I could pray for her and she said to pray for her family and their fears, but said "don't you worry about me, I'm gonna be okay, I'm not afraid at all...

These are just a few of my favorite things!

Just trying to play catch up after this extremely busy week. Things are starting to look up and the kitchen and bathroom are clean! I REALLY need to do some yard work, get a haircut and a pedicure but other than that, What more could I ask for? So, as I cleaned up today, I took some time to count my blessings and once again, my cup runneth over! I know , quite a random mix of images, right?  But who doesn't love Hepburn's classic style, a good pair of spectator pumps and a vintage purse, toile, anything from Paris (including a metronome), a sunlit bathroom with a claw-foot tub, Saks Fifth Avenue window displays, citrus aromatherapy, houses by the sea, Un-birthday birthday parties, a pile of good books, vintage photographs o...
